Emailing In
OK, so it isn’t original to email in a blog entry about emailing in your blog entry, but this is pretty neat. Apparently, I just write the email with the blog title in the header, and it magically appears on my blogger site. That is a significant feature!
I’m familiar with the SNMP protocol, which is used to deliver email, so technically, I could adapt any application that generates blog entries. For example, every time I play a game of chess, I could send a blog with the notation of the game automatically. But I don’t play chess.
Or I could write a blog entry every time my WLAN enabled PDA enters and authenticates itself into the WLAN in my house, so you could tell if I’m in or out. Except that I don’t have a WLAN PDA or hotspot in my house, and that would be seriously irritating.
I’ll try to think of some good examples. In the meantime, I’m finishing up the Brittany travel log on my “real” site today.

Holy Smokes!!!
Damn, that’s sweet! That’s so sweet that I can’t believe I’ve never emailed in a blog before. It’s so sweet that I find it impossible that other blogging software doesn’t have this functionality.
What does MovableType do in this case?
I guess technically, if you have email access, you probably have web access as well, and can use the web interface. If I could write or send email off of a PDA or mobile phone, this might be more interesting.
What about an MMS to blog entry adapter?
It appears that posts which are emailed in don’t automatically appear in the “Recent Posts” box. Hmmm.
Actually, sometimes posts submitted in any form take a while to be added to the new posts column. I had this problem once and even emailed them about it. They responded the next day, by which time it was finally working.;) I think if you republish index after submitting a new one, it works…at least that is what I have been doing the last few times and it has worked.
