Commentary Track #14

October 4th, 2004 No comments

This post relates to Gilman’s Model: The Fotonovel.

ALAIN: Dream sequences: magic and mystery. Since man first crawled upon the rocky shores of the subconscious, he has dreamed, nay, dream-sequenced of seeing my films.

RYAN: I didn’t understand all of the words in “Stories for Boys”.

ALAIN: For who are we, audience bound by light and sound, to judge what is irreal? Is there one among us who has not dreamt of walking along chimerical balusters in the chateaux of his own sleeping imagination, far more concrete than the pitiful huts of man’s daytime reckoning?

RYAN: I think I’m reading about ducks here. Yes, you can see my lips form the word “duck”.

ALAIN: And the ultimate insult, the threat of awakening. It is only a dream. ONLY a dream! PERIOD! A DREAM! NOTHING MORE!? FEVERISH IMAGININGS?!

ALAIN: (strangled gasping and choking, followed by silence. Then calmly) Or is it a truth, revealed from my own hand, far more painful, blunt and brutal than your feeble wits can comprehend?

RYAN: I like ducks. Not that one, though.
