Golly Double-darn!
I had a dream last night. The antique floral wallpaper that my landlord had used to cover the extensive water damage and wall rot had fallen away, and little beasts were crawling out. I was smashing them with my large collection of tasteful shoes. Some of them were wormy scorpions the size of my hand, and they cut through my trusty Blundstones.
What does it mean? In short, I’m being evicted. It’s complicated, and I don’t want to go into it.
Except to say that it’s a great apartment and the landlord’s daughter wants it. By December 15th, which probably has something to do with the habitation tax in Paris.
I’m looking into my options, but it seems evident that I’ll be looking for a new apartment. I might as well do it before going back to Canada… but I’m going to see if we can come to an agreement that satisfies everyone.

Holy Smokes!!!
OH..I am so sorry to hear this! You had a great apartment! Will you stay in the same area? Will you move closer to work? Good luck!
Quel tragedy! You certainly had a great place: the finest home in all of Paris. But looking on the bright side of the stick, perhaps you’ll get a ever nicer place? I was sad when I recently had to move – but now I love my new place and cringe when I remember the old hovel. Good luck with your Paris apartment hunting, and I will see you at Christmas!
It’s always a jolt when you get the boot. But, like the perennially optimistic GPC points out, this could be a great opportunity!
If you want to stay in your hood, I have a suggestion: Dimitri has moved to Spain for a job (I don’t know for how long he’s gone), but maybe his swank pad is available. I could ask if you’d like.
Horrors! Moving is hellish at the best of times, but the thought of being forced to move unmans me with terror. Courage, Tin Foiled!
I can’t believe it. The one constant in this topsy-turvy world has been the knowledge that if I arrived spontaneously in Paris I could make my way to Pernety and turn left, go 1 block turn left, go 1 block turn right, go half a block on my right and there I would find the front door of Chez Skraba.
But…on the bright side the new place will have a better shower, will have less wet and dry rot and will be the place that you next get to host everyone you ever met in Canada and some folks you never met.
Vive la difference!!

P.S. That SUCKS!!!!!!!
OK, that sucks! And what’s with that short timeline?!? That would never happen in Canada.
Good luck finding a new, better, swanky apartment!
